The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) regulated by Ofqual.

This qualification is designed for learners interested in, or new to working in adult social care in England. It covers a range of key areas of knowledge applicable to working in the sector.

Successful completion of the qualification will confirm your underpinning knowledge in any of the following job roles:
• Care Assistants/Support Workers/Key Workers in residential settings, domiciliary services or day services

• Residential Care Worker

• Support Workers in supported living projects

• Community-based Assistants, Support Workers, Key Workers including those working in specialist areas such as Dementia and learning disabilities

• Personal Assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families

During this qualification, you will develop your knowledge in working with and supporting people in a range of situations to meet their needs and assist them in daily tasks. You will understand the support people may need and gain knowledge to enable you to meet their healthcare or social needs and requirements as necessary.

You will be able to understand person-centred approaches, the importance of handling information appropriately and how to contribute to health and safety within your health and social care environment.

Development of these skills is supported by underpinning knowledge. You will also be able to develop yourself in your role and agree on a personal development plan to identify areas for your own learning and development, record your progress on your development plan and reflect on your progress against it.

This qualification contains 9 mandatory units to help you gain knowledge in areas which are relevant to your job role.

  3. Principles of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Adult Social Care Settings
  4. Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
  5. Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
  6. Understand the Role of the Social Care Worker
  7. Understand Person-Centred Approaches in Adult Social Care Settings
  8. Understand Health and Safety in Social Care Settings
  9. Understand How to Handle Information in Social Care Settings

Learners are supported by one of our qualified assessors.
They are provided with support to build their portfolio of evidence with access to their e-portfolio and are provided with learning materials to support their learning.
