Modern society is made up of people from many different social and economic backgrounds, ethnic groups, countries, ages, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, religious traditions and beliefs. The culture of our society aims to promote equal opportunities for all and to be inclusive by giving everyone the chance to achieve their potential – free from discrimination and prejudice. It is important to think about how equality and diversity can help to improve the way you live, and the way you work in health and social care settings. This idea is embedded in law.
This course introduces the concepts of equality and diversity which are used in law and many policies at work. These ideas are fundamental to working in adult health and social care.
